Failed Internet service on mobiles
Probleme d'authentication IMAP - mot de passe dedie refuse.
Please forgive my writing in English.
My Orange webmail works correctly in Edge and my mailbox is up to date, though for a short period it was interrupted. Problems have all struck in August 2026.
POP/IMAP access is enabled.
I have changed my normal Orange password successfully and have generated the dedicated password for third-party mail applications.
However, the dedicated password is rejected by both Samsung Mail (Android) and Apple Mail (iPhone/iPad).
IMAP: imap.orange.fr, SSL, port 993
SMTP: smtp.orange.fr, SSL, port 465
The complete Orange email address is used as the username.
Please could an Orange technical or Web adviser check the IMAP authentication and the dedicated third-party application password for this mailbox. The problem cannot be specific to Samsung or Apple because exactly the same credentials are rejected by both.
I have been told to download an Orange app but Orange webmail is already working. It has been working on all three devices for many years and still functions on one of them.
I am asking you to investigate why Orange's dedicated third-party mail password is rejected by both Apple Mail and Samsung Email.

Re: Failed Internet service on mobiles
Hi @Elliott1
Please could an Orange technical or Web adviser check the IMAP authentication and the dedicated third-party application password for this mailbox
Certainly not since Orange technical or web adviser do not read English and do not know which mailbox you are using.
Moreover, this place being a user driven forum, it is not the appropriate way to subit such a request to Orange support.
Additionnaly, you also have to know that a dedicated third-party mail applications password does not apply to a specific box but to each individual account address. It is different from one another.
I have changed my normal Orange password successfully
This is irrelevant to your problem since normal Orange password and specific third-party mail applications passwords are totally independent from each other. When a third-party mail applications password has been generated, ordinary passwords cannot be used anymore in third-party mail applications.
and have generated the dedicated password for third-party mail applications.
Fine, but did you enter it in the mail addresse definition in each application on each device ?
If not, no wonder why the credentials are rejected since the application has to know it and use it in order to access the server.
The only thing I would recommend is that you go back and generate another third-party mail applications password for each individual account address and copy / paste it (23 characters) into the appropriate "Password" field parameter of the corresponding address definition in each application on each device.

Re: Failed Internet service on mobiles
Merci beaucoup. Forgive me again for writing in English but yours is so good I think it appropriate. It was neverthess thoughtless of me to have been so rude.
I don't understand all that you say not because of language but because your technical ability is so much greater than mine. But I can now get advice based on what you write. It looks to me that you may have the answer to my problem.
Which is so much more than I received from Orange technical support (English speaking). From this you will understand that I did go to the appropriate place first. I have to say that the help was non-existent and entirely unacceptable in every way. In the end, the respondent hung up on me.
Thank you again for offering your expertise. Based on what advice I now receive, I may want to come back to you. I hope you will permit me to do so. I promise, that if I do, I will find some French with which to do it.

Re: Failed Internet service on mobiles
Hi @Elliott1 ,
Thank you for the compliments on my English but you'll understand it when you kow that I have been corresponding from the States with 11 European countries for several years, pushing information accross the Atlantic ocean, at the time Internet was not operationnal yet (I'm now 79 years old, and that puts me back to the early 80's)
As a first step in order to provide you with a better understanding, I would advise you to copy and paste the whole content of the folowing tutorial into a transtator such as Google Traduction
Also, so that we do not pollute this forum with English exchanges, I would propose you to continue this one in private mode.
Clic on my pseudo and select "Envoyer un message privé" in the left pannel.
