Re : Je besoin d'avoir Internet dans 2 chambres

Your english is very good-)

Ok, Mb and Mo it'different
i'd thought Mo it's french version of Mb, without differences

I've called today orange, the operator tells that i have already VDSL
'cause livebox 3 is vdsl by factory
but advice me to put the filtre white with the written "XDSL"
saying this filtre xdsl will work better for vdsl
i just don't know, i did it, the debit it's the same, around 20 Mb, not more, so nothing has changed

as i said, i turn on livebox, and the "i" it's red, after 3-4 minutes becomes green and it works

the internet installer tells me that there's nothing to do for the chambre
'cause in the box dti there's only one place for connect 2 little cable
one gray and one white
so there'no way, he said, to have internet in the chambre and salon

He advice me to buy another wifi extender, and put it in the chambre
for connect the Ordinateur

well, maybe France telecom can fix the problem for the box phone, internet outside, maybe not

i will check out the Boxes you advice me
if you have pictures of the boxes, you're welcome-)

a question maybe useless...
so, there is no way to have internet in two rooms?

many thanks-)

Livebox 3 is ready for VDSL or ADSL and Fiber only depending on how you configure and use it.

What they said about xDSL filter is OK. If the box is new, use the filter included in the package.

Color and blink state indicate, start-up progress.

Red blinking is : not connected

Green steady is OK

You only need one acces to the Internet and it's your box.

Your box provides you with a LAN (Local Area Network) each equipment connected to the LAN will have Internet connectivity.

For extending your LAN different possibilities :

  • Your connect an Ethernet cable into one of the 4 RJ-45 plug  (black ones) on the backside of the box. (prefered solution)
  • You connect all WiFi capable device to the box using the security key printed on the boxe's sticker.
  • You can add wifi extenders ou CPL plugs but keep in mind these devices are not appropriate for on-line TV or Internet gaming

If you need to connect many devisces in a spécific place use a switch (Netgear has different models with 5 or 8 slots that are not expensive), it will act as "plug multiplier" ; you'll have nothing to configure.

Re : Je besoin d'avoir Internet dans 2 chambres

Hi Phildur

yes i understand the connection progress
but maybe 3-4 minutes with the "i" red it's too much

it takes around 5 minutes for connect to this forum
wirh the Portable it's a disaster
i don't have gps too in these house
and it's the center of town, la route principale

ok the best solution it's plug one ethernet cable on 1 of the 4 prises of livebox
where i insert the other end of the ethernet cable?

many thanks-)

Ethernet connection is only available for PCs printers, and some other devices.

Its not available for light or thin equipments like smartphones. For smartphones you'll have to use WiFi. The Ethernet port would be thicker than the device itself.

About the box's startup time, 3mn seems a bit long, but I have ADSL and VDSL synchronisation may require a bit more time. Not to forget, do not switch it off overnight.

You can pluge a phone on your box

Livebox play - face arrière

connect  it on the green port labelled #7 on the picture..

All your calls to France and most of Europe are included in your contract.

If you search the WPS button, it is refered as #1 on the picture above.

i'm musician and i need to put every day some videos on a famous internet site, it's my job
this is impossible

Re : Je besoin d'avoir Internet dans 2 chambres

Hi Lorenzo

I'm sorry for you, but the VDSL is an asymetrical commuication link and the upload spped is much slower than the download speed the ration is usually  between 1 to 10 and 1to 16. What the ISP may be.

For what you are looking for you need an FTTH connection (Fiber To The Home). For the moment it is only available in cities. It will take year untill the whole country is covered.

Last point, this forum is a client forum, people here are clients, just like you.

Just my career was fully in IT development and production, but never by any ISP.

I was working 10 years for a great italian IT company based in Ivrea.

I wish you good luck in your search for a faster connection

Re : Je besoin d'avoir Internet dans 2 chambres

Hi Phildur

ok livebox 3 is in 2.4 and 5ghz
that's good

i have wifi extender 500 and plug 500

I ask if wifi Ext. could be in 5ghz
for now it's only in 2.4ghz

i have downloaded the "wifi extender logiciel" on my Pc

i can't access at the configuration
the message:"You don't have save the modification"
this is for the mot de passe

i have changed the password for the livebox, and click on "enregistrer"

it's the right steps?

can You explain me please step by step how save the mot de passe?
or is it the mot the passe of wifi Ext?...i don't know this pass.

this only if i can have wifi Ext. in 5ghz
If it will works only in 2.4ghz
there's no need to do the configuration

Re : Je besoin d'avoir Internet dans 2 chambres

Hi Lorenzo

I have no experience of those Wifi extenders and of CPL plugs. Your Wifi extenders use CPL for communication between the two modules.

For your box, if it's easier for you you can set the administration language to English

In the upper part just click on the french flag, a list of all the languages will be shown (it's only french and english)Orange_004_22062015_092510.jpg

Assuming it's now in english

You can save the whole configuration in one only click

Just go to support  and click on backup configuration, the saved file can the be resused for initialising a new exchanged livebox.

You'l get at once all your parameters set into the new box.

From connection id up to your customised WiFi SSID or your admin password.

It's a good practice to save your configuration.

In cas of suspected internal trouble, you can then use the reset to factory default and restore your settings.

It's fast and efficient.

Have a good day
